First Kite

Kitesurfing on Koh Samui
One of the best beginner-friendly kite spots in Thailand
Kite Club Koh Samui follows the wind between two beaches. From December to April we teach at Lamai Beach on the east coast (GPS 9.4667°N 100.0500°E) — a long sandy beach with the NE monsoon, turning more easterly in April, typically 12–20 knots and most consistent January–March. From May to October we move to Nathon Beach on the west coast (GPS 9.5333°N 99.9333°E), next to Nathon town and the main ferry pier, where the SW monsoon brings typically 10–18 knots, usually best in the afternoon. Water is 27–30 °C all year — no wetsuit needed.
IKO & IWO certified school
All instructors hold IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) and IWO certifications. Our multilingual team teaches in English, Russian, Arabic, German, Ukrainian and Thai, taking riders from complete beginner to independent level. Courses from 5,000 THB include all equipment and a personal progression plan.
Two monsoons · two beaches
Koh Samui gets wind from two monsoons, so the school moves with them: the NE monsoon at Lamai Beach from December to April (strongest and most consistent January–March) and the SW monsoon at Nathon Beach from May to October (more variable, afternoons usually best). October–November is a lighter, variable transition — Samui's rainy season runs roughly October–December. On no-wind days we offer e-foil, kayak and SUP.

We have two seasonal spots on Koh Samui: Lamai Beach on the east coast (December–April) and Nathon Beach on the west coast (May–October). Directions and maps are on our Contacts page.
Peak season is January–March at Lamai Beach with the NE monsoon (typically 12–20 kts); the Lamai season runs December–April. From May to October we ride at Nathon Beach in the SW monsoon (10–18 kts).

Yes. All courses include: kite or wing, board, harness, helmet and impact vest. Bring swimwear and sunscreen only.
Most beginners reach independent riding in 6–10 hours — typically 3–5 days. The Discovery Course (2h) covers kite control and body drag. The Full Beginner Course (6h/3 days) takes you to first water rides. The Independent Rider Course (10h/5 days) gets you riding upwind on your own with an IKO certificate. Progress depends on wind conditions and prior board sport experience.
